FAQs
How do I pay for services?
Harmony Speech and Language Services currently accepts Highmark Blue Shield, Delaware First Health, Delaware Medicaid, Tricare, and private pay/self pay clients. We are working to get in-network with more insurance companies and several funding sources. Please check back for updates!
For private pray options, we accept debit/credit card, Health Savings Account (HSA), and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) payments. Payment is required at the completion of each therapy session using the card on file.
We also provide Superbills, which you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement! As a private pay client, you have the right to cost transparency and protection from surprise billing, so feel free to request a good faith estimate during your consultation.
Can I submit a Superbill to Medicaid?
Unfortunately, Medicaid does not accept superbills at this time.
What is your cancellation policy?
We recognize that illnesses and emergencies may happen, but we respectfully ask that you avoid frequent cancellations or "no shows." To avoid a fee, all canceled appointments will be rescheduled if possible. Please be considerate of your therapist’s time by canceling appointments with at least a 24 hour notice. All cancellations without a scheduled makeup session as well as "no shows' ' will be charged a fee using the payment on file. For cancellations due to an appointment conflict, vacation, work or family obligation, or any other reason, please give us advance notice.
My child does not qualify for speech at school, but I feel he/she still needs therapy. Can you help?
Yes, we can! School districts operate under different guidelines from private speech language pathologists. Additionally, some families feel that the services provided at school are simply not enough. If you feel your child would benefit from additional, private services, we would love to help. Private therapy is a wonderful route to 1) supplement for services that cannot be provided at school, or 2) compliment services at school.
Do you have a brick-and-mortar clinic?
No, Harmony Speech offers mobile therapy services. We meet children where they are, offering services online or in their daycares/schools!
Is there any paperwork I need to fill out prior to beginning services?
Yes. Once a consultation has taken place, you will receive a link to our patient portal where you can complete all intake documents.
Can I be present for the therapy sessions?
Of course, it is encouraged for caregivers to join the fun!
Do I need a referral?
Referrals are not required for private pay clients, however, some insurances may require a physician referral before beginning services.
Does an evaluation have to be completed prior to beginning services?
Yes, an evaluation (whether formal or informal) is required prior to services being rendered. This helps guide our treatment goals, therapy approach, and session frequency to help obtain the best treatment outcomes. Harmony Speech accepts outside evaluations that were completed within the last six months.
How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions are typically 30 minutes, however, longer or shorter sessions can be scheduled based on your child’s needs and availability.
How long will my child need speech therapy?
There are many variables to consider when predicting the length of therapy that your child may need. All children develop and advance at different rates. However, conducting speech therapy sessions in your child's natural setting may cause faster carry-over of skills which will ultimately reduce the length of time your child needs to attend speech therapy. Additionally, following your clinician’s recommendations will also help to support your child’s communication skills in the home and help your child to achieve their goals faster.
Should I "wait and see" if my child outgrows late-talking?
The sooner you seek assistance for your child, the better the outcomes will be. According to The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), “delaying treatment can result in a missed opportunity to not only more easily and effectively treat a disorder but also to undergo a shorter and less expensive course of treatment.” If you notice your child is having difficulty communicating or comprehending, please consider getting them evaluated.
What does a caregiver coaching session look like?
During coaching sessions, we will provide you with knowledge about speech & language development, model activities and approaches that you can implement to support your child at home. A parent guide will be provided to follow up with the topics we discussed.
